A Day in the Life of an Oiler

Hi friends!  It has been a long time since I’ve posted.  Life certainly has a habit of catching up on you, and my personal life, family, and friends were much more important than maintaining this blog.  There’s been a lot of sorrow and pain this last month, and thus I’ve kind of taken a step back from a lot of things I care about.   I’m finally back to a normal cycle of things, and thought I would share a day in the life of an oiler with you all.

I’ve slowly incorporated oils into a lot of aspects in my life.  The Premium Starter Kit is such a worthy investment, and I could not recommend it more for living a more healthy life.   One of the many positives of the Whole 30 is the importance of taking care of yourself daily.  To not eat crap, and to care about what you put in your body, through food.  Taking care of yourself can avoid a whole slew of medical problems,  Weird, that by eating healthy, whole, foods, my entire body and well-being can completely change and function amazingly!  That has been a goal of mine with oils as well.  I want to take care of myself, rather than having to turn to meds, and our healthcare system, when so much I do can be totally prevented by being healthy!!  Being proactive is worth the time and money.  Taking care of yourself and not pumping your body full of harmful toxins can completely revolutionize your health and well-being!

One of the things I love about oils, is that it is completely natural and can support so many good things in your body, your environment, and further is good for your soul.   This post simply outlines how I use oils DAILY!

Daily Routine:

When I wake up, I like to roll En-er-Gee on my feet and on my ears.  It makes me feel energized and is a good caffeine replacement for all those days when getting moving is tough.  I will admit it can smell a little funky, so I created a roller with Lemon and Peppermint mixed in to give it a lighter, more citrusy smell.

I pack a bag of oils to take to work with me.  I usually bring Peppermint, DiGize, Stress Away, Joy, and a citrus oil of some kind to put in my water.  Peppermint is a quick fix for when your head may explode.  1 drop DiGize + 1 drop Peppermint in water, helps support proper digestion and makes tummies everywhere, happy.  Stress Away is a necessity for work and school.  I practically bathe in it!   Joy is an extremely floral blend.  I like to use it as a perfume with Lemon or Grapefruit.  (Fill a perfume glass spray bottle with water and add ten drops each oil!).  I love to add citrus oils to my water to keep me hydrated and to avoid anything fizzy and bad for me.

When I get home, I usually diffuse something in our apartment.  Right now, I’m really loving Lavender.  I also hoard Christmas Spirit, since you only get one a month, and love to diffuse it for a homey smell.

If I feel like doing laundry, I have nixed laundry detergent, and go with a more healthful, clean solution! 1 cap of Thieves cleaner for small loads and 2 for more!  LOVE Thieves cleaner.  It is so versatile!  My goal for next month is to get wool dryer balls and get rid of dryer sheets since they are FULL of toxins and are so bad for you.  You just put a few drops of EOs on your dryer balls and throw them in the dryer.  I have also placed a damp washcloth in the dryer with EOs of my choice on it and dried my clothes with that!

For days when my head is going to explode, I dab one drop of Peppermint under my nose.

For days when my back has been hunched over studying, or after a really intense workout, I love to roll Deep Relief on my back, or rub Pan Away on my legs!

At night, I do a face wash of Sweet Almond Oil, Frank, Lavender, and Tea Tree.  It’s sooo stimulating and promotes healthy skin!  I also spot treat with Purification!

Depending on the season, what I diffuse at night changes.  My personal favorite is Lavender and Cedarwood.  But if the pollen count is super high, I like to diffuse Lemon, Lavender, and Peppermint, since it kicks butt!!

Post Workout Cream

Hi friends!  It’s been awhile.  So, if you didn’t see my picture of a donut on my instagram feed, I definitely fell off the whole30 bandwagon, and am paying for it.  However, I’m still trying to eat as Whole30 as possible and will most definitely do a whole 30 in July.  I didn’t meal prep or mentally prepare as well as I should have this time around. 😦

To compensate for lack of whole30ing, I’m trying to compensate in the gym.  We’ve been doing auxillary lifts with 15-10-5 reps for 3 sets.  It’s exhausting, and my lower back has been so sore, as have my quads!

I love my Deep Relief roller, but I also love using PanAway and Peppermint post workout.  Today, I wanted to make a cream that I could massage onto my muscles periodically and also moisturize my skin.  I adapted a sore muscle cream that I found on pinterest, to fit my personal preference of oils.  I can already feel it doing it’s magic, and I love it!!


What You Need:

 

  • Glass Jar
  • Valor
  • Copaiba
  • Peppermint
  • Lavender
  • Lemongrass
  • PanAway
  • Coconut Oil
  • Jojoba Oil or Sweet Almond Oil

 

How to Make:

 

  1. Place 1/2 cup of Coconut Oil and 1/4 tsp of Jojoba or Sweet Almond Oil in a blender of food processor.  Pulse or run normally for 30 seconds.
  2. Add 4 drops of each oil and pulse or run normally for another minute or until the mixture is fluffy.
  3. ENJOY, and use as often as you would like!


I’ve really been digging Copaiba lately.  It’s an oil that supports the body’s natural response to injury and irritation.  I’ve been pretty hard on my muscles, so I’ve been happy to use this oil to support my body post workout.  I like to layer it with Peppermint and PanAway as both have cooling effects and work on my sore muscles post workout.  Lavender is supports happy skin and smells beautiful.  Valor is that oil that I just adore.  Not only does it make me feel brave, it also supports physical alignment.  Frankly, I love the scent of Lemongrass, so I just add it to everything!

Whole 30 Day 2

Howdy folks!  Today was absolutely beautiful.  82 degrees, sunny, and beautiful blue skies, it was almost a pity I had to work today rather than be outside.  But then my co-worker’s shared the Dingo Ate My Baby story.  Google it.  There’s a Seinfeld episode on it too.  Seriously though, I love my job. 

Tonight, we worked out (leg day) and then Andrew and I walked our pup.   The Gentle Leader is amazing for dogs who pull, but Kingsley hates it! So he tries to snuggle with us in an attempt to convince us he doesn’t need it.  Haha.
 Also, I just completed Whole30 Day 2!  Today was easier, and I had food prepped.  I’m definitely in the “this is easy phase!”  Days 4 and 5 are going to get me.  Andrew and I have our engagement party with the family on Saturday, and I’m trying on dresses, so hopefully I will stick to Whole30!  I’m thinking I’ll probably order a steak and grilled vegetables or a salad and bring my own dressing.

Today’s Whole 30 Meals included two meals of Breakfast Sausage Browns! 

 Recipe:

Ingredients

  1. 1 Sweet Potato
  2. 1/2 onion (variety of your choice)
  3. Any other veggies you may have
  4. 2 Aidell Chicken Sausage Apple Links
  5. 2 Tsp. Chili Powder
  6. 1/2 tsp cumin
  7. 1/2 tsp paprika (I do a couple Tsps because I love them)
  8. Salt and Pepper to Taste
  9. Dash of Cayenne Pepper
  10. 2 T Coconut Oil

Dice the sweet potatoes and place in a pan with 2 T of coconut oil, and all the spices.  Cover with lid, stirring every few minutes.  Meanwhile, dice your onion, and slice your chicken sausage into a thickness of your choice.  I did about 1/2 inch slices.  Once potatoes begin to crisp (7-10 minutes), add onions, and chicken sausage, stirring frequently.  Once onions begin to be translucent, it is done. Enjoy!!

Makes about 2 servings.  I split them up for breakfast and dinner.

Whole 30 Round 2 Starts Tomorrow

Happy Memorial Day! Remember, we are the home of the free, because of the brave.  All fallen soldiers have my utmost respect and gratitude. 

Today was a relaxing Monday, spent with my fiancée, who just returned from the Indianapolis 500. My stomach has been so angry, so today, I heavily relied on Digize.  That oil makes my tummy so happy, and as someone with all sorts of tummy issues, this is greatly appreciated. It made my day so much more bearable, but made me recognize how badly I needed to get back on clean eating.   Andrew had practice and during that, I got my affairs in order for Whole 30! 

Here is my grocery store haul:

  
I made a Zesty Ginger Dressing from Wel Fed 2 (amaze balls).  It tastes just like the one I adore at sushi restaurants, and man, where has this been all my life! 

  
 Then I made Paleo Mayo from Well Fed 1/2.  

These are the sauces that will keep my food yummy all week.  Paleo Mayo is so versatile and so, so yummy.  

I also stir fried some sweet potatoes for breakfast tomorrow.

    I plan on also frying some eggs and having two Aidell’s Chicken Apple Sausage.  For lunch I will have the above salad, with hard boiled eggs.  For Dinner, I may try to make Melissa’s Chicken Hash from the Whole 30 cookbook!

I’m really excited to do a whole30 with my new workout regimen!  I’m ready to be a strong, beautiful, bride! Today’s workout was all shoulders and we finished with push-ups.  By the end, I was shaking so badly, and so sore!  So, naturally, Deep Relief was a necessity! That oil is all sorts of minty goodness and I love that it rolls on cold and gets warm. It works serious magic and gets so deep! Love my essential oil journey! Hello Summer!

I am done with finals! Woohoo!! This semester was a crazy one, and I had so much going on these past few weeks. Crazy to think that I have completed 2 years of law school.  One more to go!  It’s finally summer break, and I could not be happier!  I go back to work full time on Monday, but I’m lucky to love my job, and am oh, so, grateful that I don’t have to do homework at night anymore (for three months anyways).  This summer has so much going on: weddings, concerts, family, girl’s weekends . . .

Things I’m Looking Forward to in Summer 2015

  1. I’m going to see Garth Brooks tonight, in Omaha!!
  2.   1. Girl’s Weekend 2015 at Table Rock Lake.  Seriously looking forward to spending a few days laying out and having girl time with all my ladies!

  4. Catching up on Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder, The Walking Dead, Blacklist, and Vampire Diaries.

READING.  If you know me at all, you know how much I love to read.  I know I will be reading the Inheritance Series, all of Jane Austen, What to Eat by Marion Nestle for sure.  But my list is always outrageous.  I *own* over a hundred and fifty books I have yet to read, so I have so many exciting options to choose from.
